In their first project of the year, grade 1 students were inspired by the book The Honeybee, written by Kirsten Hall and the beautiful, whimsical illustrations, by Isabelle Arsenault.
This was the perfect project to help welcome in the Jewish New Year, as honey is an important symbol at the festive meal, where we dip apples in honey and ask G-d to give us a sweet New Year.
Students used oil pastel to draw happy honey bees flying over soft colourful flowers created with chalk pastel. They practiced using this new medium and learned how to apply it to the paper and then blend it in using their fingertip in a circular motion.
The results bring a smile to all who see them!
Shanah Tovah u’Metukah!!!
