On Lag B’Omer, We learned all about Ahavat Yisrael! Showing kindness and respect to others. This week, let’s practice this important Mitzvah through our artwork.
Now that the weather is FINALLY warming up for real, people are spending more time out of their houses on walks, runs, and bike rides. Let’s help cheer them up and put a smile on their faces with 3 choices:
POSITIVITY POSTERS, CHALKING OUR WALKS, or making ACTIVITY COURSES for others on the public sidewalk near our house.
- What is a Positivity Poster? It is a message of kindness and positive thinking.
Here is an idea sheet to help get you started:
Here is an example from an OJCS student in grade 1:
2) Chalk your walk: You can make people smile when they walk past your driveway if is decorated with beautiful art and positive messages. You can also thank our frontline workers.
Here are some examples including one that we did at my house:
You can also make your own sidewalk chalk paint with this easy recipe:
2/3 cup water
Mix the ingredients together until the cornstarch dissolves.
Divide it into different wells in a muffin tin.
- Use food colouring to make each compartment a different colour (4 drops recommended)
*the colours will dry much lighter than they look in the tin so make them bright!
